When you’re driving the fastest cars in the world you’re bound to have some kind of accident.

True enough, and in California no less.

Check with your credit card company first.

Mine has it built in as long as I use the card and decline all other protections at the rental place.

I called my insurance agent, he says I’m covered exactly the same in a rental as I am in my own car. However, I’m still responsible for the deductible and loss of use. He highly recommended the collision damage waiver (decline liability) on the grounds of convenience (the rental company would charge immediately for the damage and the insurance could take up to a year to pay back).

Looked into the credit card, Visa offers secondary coverage with my insurance being primary. So in the end I probably wouldn’t be on the hook for any money, but I’d essentially be dealing with 2 insurance companies.
